Maserati Seats Made Of Silk

Maserati has recently added a special trim to it's Ghibli and Quattroporte sedan models.

They're introducing seats made of mulberry silk with Poltrona Frau leather used for the outer trim. The Silk is hand stitched with different patterns for the doors and seats. It only comes in a silver/grey Anthracite but the leather outer trim can be a variety of colors for a more personal touch.

This collaboration with Ermenegildo Zegna will set you back around $11,000 to $22,000 depending on the model and color package.

Maybe this luxury trim will be available for the Alfieri.

That's a lot to pay for that package but worth it if you want your Maserati to stick out, I don't think it's worth it. What I would like to see is something sportier for the Alfieri

Those look like they belong in a 90's Honda Civic. Something sporty with class.

This is a bit more like it:

Silk seems like a fabric that is pretty delicate. Don't spill anything. And it can also fray and wear down over time.

Also, Over $10k for seats is quite expensive. I don't really care if they have gold spun into the fabric. I don't want to spend that much on seats.

Lol, I assume people who can afford these seats don't really care if they're delicate or not. They probably could have it stitched with gold threads too. I don't think it's worth it as I'm a fan of leather but maybe Maserati sees a market in this that we don't.

In the long run it could save you money. Silk's tensile strength is comparable to that of high-grade alloy steel so it'll be able to stand wear and tear longer than leather or fabric. Just a matter of how long you plant to keep your car.

It just seems to me that when you spend that much money on something, it is more for things that you aren't going to use a ton because you want to preserve it. That's how I look at it at least.

On the plus side it might not require as much care as leather does, which when neglected can really show that neglect.
